Math in Kindergarten - the More Advanced, the Better
A recent article in the New York Times says what we've known for several years - NOT teaching challenging Math at kindergarten level is detrimental to children. Most children are taught counting numbers and basic shapes in American kindergartens - stuff that kids already know by the time they get there. The academic study quoted has found that all children benefit from exposure to advanced reading and mathematics.
At Safari Kid, it is our core belief that it is never too early to introduce children to concepts in reading, writing and mathematics, and we introduce those concepts as soon as we feel the children are ready. This approach is now gaining traction in academia as well as more research gets done on the impact of preschool education on future performance
